Coating & Engraving Care: What to Do (and Not Do)
DO’S:
- Proper Care for Maximum Longevity
- We recommend Flitz Ceramic Sealant + microfiber cloth for protection & easy cleaning (Cerakote & PVD).
Dry Surfaces Quickly – Prevents water spots & contaminants.
Store in a Clean, Dry Area – Reduces dust & environmental wear.
Use Soft-Bodied or Lined Holsters w/ open bottom to allow debris to fall or be blown out.
DONT’S:
Things That Can Damage Your Finish
- Avoid Harsh Cleaners – Acetone, Ammonia, Chlorinated Solvents.
No Abrasive Materials – Avoid steel wool, wire brushes, or aggressive scrubbing.
Do Not Soak in Chemicals -Prolonged exposure may weaken the finish.
Avoid Hard-Body Holsters (e.g., Kydex) – These will cause excessive wear over time.
Our Warranty: Yes, We’ve Got Your Back
All Cerakote application and laser engraving services performed by Apollo Custom, Inc. are covered under the Apollo Assurance Program, a limited lifetime warranty covering: Chipping, Cracking, Peeling, Flaking, Delamination
Initial Break-In:
Fire 200-300 rounds to allow coated surfaces to properly mate and smooth out friction points.
During This Period, You May Experience:
• Sluggish slide return
• Stovepipes or “sticking” issues
Recommended Actions:
• After 200 rounds, field strip, clean, and lubricate your firearm.
• For tighter-fitting models, an additional 100 rounds followed by cleaning may be necessary.
• Skipping the break-in process may lead to functionality issues.
What’s NOT Covered?
• Normal wear & tear from holsters, moving parts, friction areas.
• Damage from abuse, neglect, or improper cleaning.
